Despite some early season controversy in Pittsburgh between offensive coordinator Todd Haley and quarterback Ben Rothlisberger, reports from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport indicate that Haley will remain a Steeler for 2014.

“When you talk to people familiar with that situation, what they say is that some of the other coaches — Kirby Wilson the running backs coach, also Mike Tomlin — became more involved with the offense,” Rapoport said.  “And also Haley allowed Ben to run the no-huddle that he really wants.”

As soon as Haley allowed Big Ben to run the hurry-up offense which allowed Rothlisberger to call plays at the line of scrimmage, he excelled and was able to throw for over 4,000 yards for the third time in his career.

So long as Haley gives Rothlisberger the freedom he needs to run the offense, I’d say he’ll be safe in his offensive coordinator position.
