Tom Brady: I didn’t realize how hard it was to win a Super Bowl
This week, Sports-Illustrated’s Peter King spoke to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady about his career and playing in the Super Bowl. Brady admitted that the Patriots had their chances to win the Super Bowl on more than one occasion.
“We’ve had our chances. Twice. More than twice, actually,” Brady told Peter King of SI.com.
After winning three of his first four Super Bowl games, Brady told King he did not realize how hard it was to win a Super Bowl.
“I still have plenty of chances to do it. What I’ve learned is it’s really, really hard to win the Super Bowl. I didn’t get that perspective early, winning three out of the first four years I played.”
With all of the media attention the Patriots have received this off-season, Brady believes the team will need mental toughness to win it all this year.
“Can we win this year? It’ll be determined by our level of commitment, the mental toughness. We’ll find out before the season. How committed are we?”
Brady also told King that what he loves about the Patriots franchise is that they have a shot to win it all every year.
“What I like about this franchise is we’ve got a shot every year. I love the fact we were in the AFC title game last year, the Super Bowl the year before that and 14-2 the year before that.”
Brady is the reason why the Patriots have had a shot to win the Super Bowl every year over the last decade. If New England wants to get back to the Super Bowl this year, they will have to rely on Brady a lot this season. While the Patriots play in a weak AFC East, the AFC conference has become a lot more difficult over the past few years.
While Brady spoke to King about Aaron Hernandez, those quotes will not be published until tomorrow.
