Cam Newton is spending his off-season at the University of Auburn trying to complete enough classes to receive his Bachelors degree in Sociology. During his time in Alabama, Newton is even helping the basketball team win games against rival Alabama. No, Newton is not on the court, but is helping to pump up the crowd.
By the end of the night, Auburn had beat Alabama 49-37, snapping their six game losing streak.
How big of a deal was it that Newton was in the crowd? Well, apparently Auburn basketball players even took notice that Newton was there last night.
“I hate to admit it, but I was paying attention to the student section, and I saw him out there leading cheers,” Auburn forward Allen Payne said, via AL.com’s Joel Erickson. “I just heard the crowd, and it pumped me up. That’s great he was leading them on.”
