WATCH: Ryan Kalil bid farewell to retiring Jordan Gross with a song
Carolina Panthers left tackle and three-time Pro Bowler, Jordan Gross, announced his retirement from the NFL after eleven seasons on Wednesday.
During the press conference, Gross was interrupted by Panthers center Ryan Kalil and several other players who proceeded to bid him farewell singing ‘Happy Trails’. It was a wonderful moment.
Gross was drafted by the Panthers with the eighth overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He was an NFC Champion that same year and he played in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. The Patriots won the game. In 2008, Gross made his only career appearance as an AP first-team All Pro selection.
A long-time team captain, the Panthers have their work cut out not only in replacing a reliable franchise left tackle, but also replacing the leadership Gross brought to the team.
