Chris Bosh: Lakers are better than Heat on paper 0

Composing a “super team” is becoming more and more of a trend every year. The Miami Heat, coming off a championship, fit the mold of a “super team” with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh leading the way.

However, Chris Bosh doesn’t believe that the Heat have the best team in the league, on paper. That title, according to Bosh, goes to the newly reconstructed Los Angeles Lakers.

After adding Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to join Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, this is what the seven-time All-Star had to say regarding the Lakers, according to ESPN Insider:

“The Lakers, I think, right now, I mean on paper, they probably have the best team in the West and probably the league right now,” he said, per the Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Winderman. “On paper. I’m saying on paper. But it’s a lot, a lot, it’s a long season. And the best team always isn’t the one who starts out the season as the best team.

“We know we’re the champs, but we have to start off from scratch. We have a lot of chemistry building to do. And we have to come out there and we have to start over. We know favorites and all that stuff really doesn’t matter.”

Well, is he really wrong?

The Miami Heat are deeper than they were their first year, after adding Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, and Shane Battier in free agency over the past two offseasons. However, the LA roster is stacked. Aside from the Nash/Bryant/Metta World Peace/Gasol/Howard starting lineup, LA also features Jordan Hill, Antawn Jamison, Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks, and Devin Ebanks.

Of course, the Miami Heat are the defending champions, and deserve the respect that comes with it. And being better on paper really means nothing. But a Heat/Lakers finals matchup could truly be a great one.
