The Los Angeles Clippers have been rumored to have interest in signing Paul Pierce, who has obvious ties to current Clippers coach Doc Rivers. However, a sign and trade with the Nets is really the only plausible way the Clips can do so while meeting a reasonable figure for Pierce financially. Initial reports said that Nets GM Billy King was not interested at all in this scenario, but he may be coming around… for a price, of course.
King and the Nets will consider giving up Pierce in a trade if the Clippers are willing to part ways with shooting guard JJ Redick, or a first round pick, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

That would certainly be a steep price to pay for Pierce, who may not have too many years left on his body. For the Nets, it makes perfect sense, as the team MUST start reacquiring some assets if they are going to lose all these pieces they assembled in the hopes of winning a championship.
Redick would be a great fit in Brooklyn, and would be a vast improvement at the backup two-guard position over players like Marcus Thornton and Alan Anderson.
