Very wealthy professional athletes sometimes have a tendency to kind of throw their money around. You know, usually because they can afford to. Along this line, many of these guys somehow obtain the notion that because they can play a sport, they are also savvy business men. For proof of this, look no further than the countless amount of athletes who make millions, and jus ta few years later are broke.
That being said, Shaquille O’Neal and Lamar Odom are far from broke. But they have made at least one business decision that is already proving to be a bit of a headache.
Ever heard of Power Balance bracelets?
, Shaq and Lamar Odom are entering a lawsuit against Power Balance bracelets that already involves stars such as Kobe Bryant and Blake Griffin.
TMZ has obtained court papers, which show Odom claims the company stiffed him out of $133,870 before it filed for bankruptcy back in November. ….As for Shaq — a former Power Balance spokesperson — court docs show the big man is demanding $308,170. The two join a long list of athletes who claim PB needs to open up its checkbook … including Kobe ($400,000), Blake Griffin ($20,000)
First of all, let’s be honest. $133,870 is really not a ton of money to Lamar Odom. On the same note, $308,170 is pocket change to Shaq. $400,000 to Kobe and $20,000 to Blake Griffin is also a drop in the bucket when you consider how much these guys are worth.
Nonetheless, this seems to be an interesting case. Something definitely doesn’t seem right here with Power Balance bracelets, and we’ll see what comes out of this.
I’m sure the Clippers are hoping this won’t be any sort of distraction to Lamar Odom, who is trying to come back from a tough year as a Dallas Maverick.
Stay tuned to see how this all plays out.
