Giants running back David Wilson “definitely surprised” over media’s treatment of fumble
Clearly, Giants rookie running back David Wilson out of Virginia Tech did not do his homework on the New York media when he was drafted by the team. In his first game with the Giants against the division rival Cowboys, Wilson fumbled, and never returned to the game thereafter. Anyone watching the game could see how mad Coughlin was at the rookie, and you got the sense the media was going to kill Wilson the next day, but Wilson has been “definitely surprised” over the coverage his fumble is getting.
However, it seems that the rookie may be on his way out of coach Coughlin’s doghouse, and will be given the opportunity to right the ship. If there is anything I know as a New York native, it is that as quickly as they tear you down, they are just as ready to build you back up again. If Wilson goes out and runs for 150 yards and a couple of touchdowns in week two against the Bucs, you can bet Wilson will see his media coverage turn for the better.
On the other hand, if he goes out in week three against Cam Newton and the Panthers (in prime time Thursday night I may add), Wilson may feel a little deja vu from opening week.
