The Portland Trail Blazers made a nice upgrade to their front court on Thursday night by landing free agent center Chris Kaman. Via Adrian Wojnarowski:
Free-agent center Chris Kaman has agreed to a two-year, $9.8 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The second season of the deal has $1 million of the $5 million guaranteed, a source said.
In 39 games with the Lakers last season, Kaman averaged around 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. He is still a quality and serviceable big man who can produce well off the bench and off the bench production is exactly what the Trail Blazers need. In addition, reserve big man Thomas Robinson wasn’t getting it done, so they really are hitting two birds with one stone by also upgrading to a better reserve big man.
