The Kansas City Royals missed the playoffs every year for nearly three decades. At officially 29 years, the Royals ended the longest playoff drought in North American sports this year. Put it this way, Royals legend and VP of baseball operations George Brett was 32 years old the last time the Royals were in the postseason. While the Royals would end up winning the 1985 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals that year, it would be the last time Brett would participate in a playoff game.
So what better way for TBS to capitalize on this feel good story than to have Kansas City icon George Brett give his ringing endorsement of the network? There was one problem however, Brett stumbled through the promo in an awkward interview. Poor George nearly forgot the tagline “Very funny” during the short segment. Oh boy.
