The Detroit Pistons have declined to pick up the $2.5 million option on Chauncey Billups’ contract, once again leaving the veteran out in the cold. This isn’t the first time that the Pistons (a franchise Billups helped bring a championship to) have seemingly tossed Billups aside. Remember when they dealt him to the Nuggets back in 2008?
But reports have surfaced today claiming that the 37-year old looks great during workouts in Las Vegas.
Free agent guard Chauncey Billups is working out in Vegas and has blown the staff there away. Looks great and looking for a new team.

Billups has been extremely limited over the past three seasons, only managing 61 games in that same span. I’d imagine any teams with even the remotest of interests will be incredibly careful with any negotiations involving the former Finals MVP.
Not to say that there won’t be a laundry-list of contenders, hoping the hype can translate into productive minutes off the bench. But I’d imagine that Billups will need to take the veterans minimum and really show that he still has something in the tank in order to land on anyone’s roster anytime soon.
