Online gambling and sportsbook operators in the New Jersey area were busy in the recent past where a number of partnerships between iGaming firms and major leagues and teams took the state by storm. As teams in NJ continue racking up extra cash, their PA counterparts are likely salivating.

New Jersey was one of the leading petitioners against PASPA, taking the major leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, and MLB head-on. The top league executives had at the time complained against sports betting, claiming it would erode theintegrity of sports. Two years down the line and we see every major league partnering with some of the biggest gambling chains in the country.
NBA was the first to sign up, partnering with Casino conglomerate MGM in July 2018. NHL legends Vegas Golden Knights were next in line to partner with William Hill. The NJ Devils have actively participated in the partnership process, signing deals with FanDuel, Caesars Entertainment, and William Hill over the years.
List of Potential Partners
The wave of partnerships swiftly spread over to PA from NJ and with the existing 10 commonwealth casinos applying for an online license and key partnerships are on the cards. Pennsylvania is home of seven major league pro teams in football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and other sports. The list of teams includes the Philly Flyers, Eagles, Phillies, 76ers, Pittsburg Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers. And the list of operators includes Harrah’s, Parx, Live! Hotel and Casino, and SugarHouse.
Rivers Casino is a major player out West and might dominate the scene as they deem fit. A partnership with the Pirates or the Penguins could be on the cards during the initial stage. However, the NFL could potentially ban Rivers from putting their name up on promotional materials involving the league.
Located further off, Mount Airy and Presque Isle Downs could also be interested in signing contracts with the Pittsburg franchises. While the 76ers are in a grand position to sign a few deals of their own.
