Johan Santana’s No-Hitter Tainted?
The St. Louis Dispatch had an interesting headline after Johan Santana pitched the first no-no in Mets history:
This stems from an apparent fair ball off the bat of Carlos Beltran that was called foul by umpire Adrian Johnson, ultimately keeping the no-hitter intact. Johnson replied with “no comment” upon watching the replay. Human error is part of the game, however, so it was slightly classless by the St. Louis media to undermine Santana’s performance. Let the man enjoy his moment, after all the Cardinals have nine no-hitters of their own in their rich history.
