Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has been out since December 26th due to a third knee surgery. With Westbrook, the Thunder were 21-4, and in his absence have gone 22-8 – thanks in large part to a hot streak of epic proportions by Kevin Durant.

Durant had hinted at Westbrook’s return before, but made it sound official during an interview Friday. What better game to return than against the two-time defending champs?

Next game right after the All-Star break, against Miami,” Durant said of Westbrook’s timetable in an interview with Grantland’s Bill Simmons on Friday.

The only question now is how well Westbrook will assimilate back into the offense given how unbelievably Durant has played all season. But, there’s no way anyone is going to say the Thunder are better off without Russ on the floor.

The Thunder and Heat square off Thursday night Oklahoma City.
