Khalil Mack wants to put Peyton Manning on his back
Oakland Raiders rookie linebacker Khalil Mack has set some lofty goals for himself going into his debut season.
The first is to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. The second is to sack Peyton Manning.
“I want to prove that they got a top guy,” Mack said. “My goal for my rookie season is to be defensive rookie of the year.”
On Peyton Manning:
“I’m looking forward to playing against Peyton Manning,” Mack said. “I think going against the best quarterback in the game right now is going to be a big deal. Especially if you can put him on his back.”
Last season, Manning torched the Raiders, only throwing eight incompletions to go along with seven touchdowns in two games, and he was only sacked twice.
The Raiders defense looks to be significantly upgraded upfront with the acquisitions of LaMarr Woodley and Justin Tuck, along with drafting Mack. However, it’s safe to say they have some work to do if they plan on being able to consistently get to the league’s best quarterback.
Mack will get his first crack at Manning on November 9th when the Raiders and Broncos square off in Oakland.
