Larry Fitzgerald Wants Arizona to Draft Michael Floyd
The Arizona Cardinals’ best wide receiver wants some help at the top of this year’s draft. According to a report, Larry Fitzgerald has said that he would like the Cardinals to use the 13th overall pick to draft Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd.
It has been widely speculated that the Cardinals would try to add a #2 WR to complement Fitzgerald sometime this offseason; a position they haven’t successfully filled since trading away Anquan Boldin to the Baltimore Ravens two years ago. Now, it appears as though the Cardinals’ top player wants them to fill that position sooner rather than later. This is no surprise; Arizona’s offense has struggled without a solid secondary receiver, and the franchise’ best year (their 2008 Super Bowl run) came with three 1,000 yard receivers (Fitzgerald, Boldin and Steve Breaston, now with the Kansas City Chiefs), so it would make sense for them to add someone of Floyd’s caliber in an attempt to reclaim the offensive prowess they once had. It of course remains to be seen if Arizona will heed Fitzgerald’s word, especially since they also could use their top draft choice on an offensive lineman or pass rusher, but if they want to get their offense back to where it was while keeping their best player happy, they would do well to draft Michael Floyd.
