Lions G.M. says Ndamukong Suh isn’t involved in trade talks
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was reported the last few weeks to be the topic of trade talks, but Lions general manager Martin Mayhew says that isn’t the case, and that Suh is staying put.
Of course, random trade talk doesn’t just pop up out of thin air, as there has been at least one inquiry about Suh. However, teams will always claim a player isn’t on the trade block, right up until the moment they trade him, so we don’t know how much substance is behind Mayhew’s words.
The biggest problem would be finding a trade partner if Suh was indeed on the market. He is due over $12 million this season and is set to hit free agency in 2015 if no long-term deal is worked out with Detroit. As we saw with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Darrelle Revis, trading a guy with a huge price tag isn’t easy.
I personally think Suh isn’t going anywhere, it would be a very tough sell for a team to take on Suh’s contract when he will most likely test the market a year from now.
