Looking at the History of March Madness to Determine Who Will Win with the NCAA Championship
It’s been a wild March Madness so far. With so many upsets going down, where can we turn to get a sense of which teams are more likely to make it through the Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final Four? For starters, we can turn to history. The No. 4 UCLA Bruins have run the table more than any other team still dancing, and their experience may give them an edge over the top-seeded Florida Gators, who have gone all the way to the Final just three times. In the meantime, history tells us that a No. 8 like Kentucky (who are, incidentally, playing like a No. 1) are reasonably likely to make it through to Final Four, as the No. 8 seed has done it disproportionately often in the past.
