Marty Mornhinweg makes ridiculous comment about Chris Johnson
Jets running back Chris Johnson has no shortage of confidence heading into the 2014 season, and apparently his offensive coordinator, Marty Mornhinweg, shares this confidence.
Johnson has shown flashes of being a very good running back, even rushing for over 2,000 yards in 2009. However, Mornhinweg went off the deep end when talking about him.
“He’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer.”
Quite frankly, that is an absolutely absurd statement by Mornhinweg. Johnson has amassed 7,965 rushing yards so far in his career, which isn’t even close to being enough for Hall of Fame consideration. Jerome Bettis has nearly 6,000 more yards than CJ2K and has been turned down numerous times by the HOF selection committee.
Perhaps Marty meant that the 28-year-old Johnson will resurrect his career in New York and someday be in the conversation for the HOF. Johnson needs to get started on step one first, and to do that he needs to play well enough to get the majority of the touches in what is presumed to be a time share in the Jets’ backfield.
