Rumors are swirling that Maurice Jones-Drew could report this weekend to the Jaguars
Fantasy owners of Maurice Jones-Drew, you may be relieved. Rumors are swirling that Maurice Jones-Drew may return as early as this weekend. If the rumors are indeed true, this couldn’t come at a better time for not only fantasy owners, but Jones-Drew who has piled up $1.2 million in fines.
The dual threat, bowling ball running back, led the league last season with 1,606 rushing yards. Despite only being 5’7, Jones-Drew has rushed for more than 1300 yards in each of the past three seasons. Couple that with his durability and being only 27, the Jaguars need their best player on the field if they are going to progress.
Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey has heard about the potential of Jones-Drew returning this weekend, but still hasn’t heard directly from him:
“but nothing from people that need to tell me its firm. I have not heard from Maurice.”
One of the major reasons rumors are flying, is because if Maurice Jones-Drew does return by this weekend, he will be eligible to receive his salary this season, when he’s due to make $9.1 million.
