Bills’ Eric Wood says it’s time for NFL to test players’ blood 59

While the NFL players union and the NFL argue over the details of implementing a program to test players blood, which is the only way to test for the illicit use of human growth hormone, one NFL player says the time is now to start testing players’ blood.

Buffalo Bills center Eric Wood took to his twitter this afternoon to discuss the NFL’s drug testing policies. Currently, the NFL only tests players urine. Wood, believes if the league is going to test, they might as well test blood as well.

The league and the union agreed last year that players would get blood tests for HGH, but those tests still have not begun because the two sides have not been able to agree on all the details of that testing.

When asked by a fan whether or not Wood believed the union was dragging its feet, Wood responded with “a combo of both but I would like to see it get done.”

If Wood’s words speak for the entire league, it seems like there would be very little resistance if the NFL implemented blood testing during the 2012 season.
