Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes has had his fair share of fines and suspensions throughout the years and has openly been critical of it. But for whatever reason, this year, Barnes has ripped the NBA for suspensions handed down to players. Remember Barnes ripping the NBA over the one-game suspension of James Harden?
Now Barnes has turned his attention to J.R. Smith who was handed a two-game suspension for striking Boston’s Jae Crowder on Monday. Barnes tweeted out his displeasure for only a two-game suspension given to Smith while trying to make it clear he doesn’t have an issue with J.R. and he’s being used as an example.
Not a knock on Jr cause he’s the homie, but I get 1game for pushing someone! Let me take a swing w/a closed fist. NBA picks & chooses #joke

Dnt get me wrong I wanna see Jr help his team, specially considering it’s the playoffs. I’m using him as an example its not directed at him

Matt Barnes is the definition of a loose-cannon. I’m not sure what he expects from the NBA when he has a slew of technicals, fines and ejections that have come to define who he is as a player over the years. J.R. Smith is a knucklehead, but he hasn’t exactly been picking up a plethora of technicals and flagrants fouls while kicking water bottles into stands, spitting on the court, swearing at fans, using racial slurs, ripping the association on Twitter, arrested and lets not forget going off on his own teammates.
Just like there are a small percentage of people that shouldn’t be allowed to be on social media, they’re also athletes that qualify for this. Barnes is a prime example of this. Mathew, you should probably hit up an anger management class or two and stay clear of anything that qualifies as social media.
