This big-time block from the rookie out of Kentucky came with about 8 minutes to go in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s action between the Bobcats and Suns.
The ultra-athletic, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist pins Jared Dudley’s would-be dunk against the glass and stops the Suns from taking a 10-7 lead in Charlotte.
One thing that has been clear about the young fella in his first season is that he can play defense. MKG had 5 steals on Saturday night against the Mavericks and looks to be a heavy dose of exactly what a struggling Bobcats’ franchise needs to build on.
Micahel Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game to go along with his 7.5 points and 6 rebounds. The athletic ability and NBA ready body that MKG possesses were a big added bonus when the Cats went ahead and drafted the 19-year old with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. I think his god-given talents alone will make him a force for years to come. He has some issues with his jumper and looks to be still getting the hang of the offense, but once this kid gets it all going, he will be very fun to watch.
