The Pelicans have locked up their superstar big man Anthony Davis for the next five years and they are paying him a handsome amount.
New Orleans star Anthony Davis has agreed to a five-year, $145 million maximum contract extension, league source tells Yahoo Sports.

$145M over five years is a ridiculous amount of money to pay a player, but if there is anybody who would be worth spending that money on, it’s Anthony Davis, who averaged 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game last season. Davis is a one-man wrecking crew who does it all. He can shoot, rebound, defend, and take over games in the clutch. If there was any player in the NBA who I could build my team around for the next 5 years outside of LeBron James, it would be Anthony Davis. Guys like him don’t come around very often and the Pelicans are smart to recognize that.
