Shabazz Muhammad, the alleged 20-year old guard/forward out of UCLA, was no stranger to controversy in his short stint with the Bruins. Apparently, his NBA career after being drafted 14th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves is off to a very similar start. Muhammad, who was among 50 other rookies attending the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program, was dismissed after violation of a program rule. However, it is definitely not as bad as it sounds, as Muhammad merely had a female guest in his hotel room, which was the aforementioned violation mentioned.
USAToday has the details:
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Minnesota Timberwolves rookie guard Shabazz Muhammad was sent home from the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program for violating of a rule and bringing a female guest into his hotel room Tuesday evening, a person familiar with situation told USA TODAY Sports.
The person requested anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly about the situation
The report also mentions that Muhammad will also be fined for his actions. Though it seems like a minor violation, Muhammad was aware of the rules when making the decision to have a guest in his room, and for that, he is in the wrong. However, let’s not act like he was pulling a Michael Beasley or anything and getting arrested.
Hopefully Muhammad will learn from this minor transgression, and it will be a blip in the radar of a long NBA career.
