NFL lock bet of the week: Put it all on the Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders will have a shot on Sunday to do what nobody predicted they would have a chance to do before the season began – be .500 by midseason. The Raiders are a very good home team and will be welcoming the defensively challenged Philadelphia Eagles to Oakland with backup quarterback Nick Foles taking the snaps. And with the Raiders favored by 2.5 points according to NFL football money lines, you should put your cash on the Raiders to cover the spread.
The Raiders clearly have all of the momentum while first year coach Chip Kelly and his Eagles have struggled the last couple of weeks on both sides of the ball. Without Michael Vick, defenses have focused all of their attention on stud running back, LeSean McCoy. That is not good news for the Eagles considering the Raiders are sixth in the NFL against the run. The stingy Oakland defense is giving up just 89.9 yards a game to opposing running backs.
Although the Eagles are pretty solid against the run, they are dreadful against the pass. In addition, the Eagles haven’t gone up against too many teams this season with the dual rushing attack the Raiders have with Terrelle Pryor and Darren McFadden. Look for the Raiders to play a very well offensive game while playing tough defense at home. Final prediction: Raiders 23 Eagles 17.
