Now that the off-season is in full swing the Arizona Cardinals have many of players with expiring contracts, but one of the most important of the bunch just might be Karlos Dansby. Should the Cardinals re-sign Dansby? Not only should he be re-signed, but keeping him a Cardinal is a top priority this off-season. Seeing how the 32 year-old inside linebacker had one of his best seasons of his career last year, collecting six and a half sacks and 122 tackles overall.

Dansby was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals and played his first six seasons in the desert. When he signed with Miami in 2010, it seemed like a big mistake from the get-go. Thankfully when he became a free agent after the 2012 season; Arizona realized the mistake that was originally made and signed him to a one year contract. He responded with one of his best seasons of his career and truly proved his worth. Dansby should be a Cardinal for life and once retired should be considered for a spot in the ring of honor.

When thinking back to last season, Dansby was a tremendous leader on and off the field for the defense and the entire team as a whole. He not only led by example, but he seemed to provide a big play whenever needed. Obviously there are more positions to address in free agency this off-season like safety, running back, offensive line just to name a few. Yet, if Dansby and the Cardinals can agree to terms on a justifiable one or two-year contract then that leaves Arizona with cap room to address those other needs.

Looking forward to 2014 there are many positions that need addressed, but maintaining the strength of Todd Bowles defense is key to pushing for a playoff berth, especially in the NFC West. This is the first move that needs to be made in order to keep this defense as stout and efficient as it has been. Steve Keim and Michael Bidwell surely realize how important bringing back Dansby is and was in the first place, and I believe they will do anything in their power to keep Dansby a Cardinal for life.
