The Chicago White Sox Have Acquired Brett Myers 53

Brett Myers

According to Ken Rosenthal of, the Chicago White Sox have acquired Brett Myers from the Houston Astros. The White Sox needed to upgrade their bullpen, so the closer will be a welcomed addition. Brett Myers is in the final year of a two-year contract that has a $10 million option for 2013. He has 19 saves on the season, with a 3.52 ERA. The White Sox are showing the will to go after the American League Central title. Going into Saturday night’s game in Detroit, the White Sox hold a one-half game lead on the Tigers.

It is not yet known what the Astros will receive in return for Myers. Houston has been busy in the last few days with trades, as they were recently involved in a 10 player trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, in which the Astros received closer Francisco Cordero, outfielder Ben Francisco and four minor leaguers. It looks like the Astros are building for the future.
