On Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be covered by Tampa Bay Buccaneers corner Darrelle Revis. The same Revis that goes by the nickname ‘Revis Island’ and is known to shut down team’s number one wide receiver. Despite having to face off against Revis this week, Jackson is not worried.
In fact, Jackson believes he has something that Revis does not have, speed.
While talking to Phillymag.com, Jackson said he does not believe Revis can run with him.
“I’m definitely sure his coaches are confident in him, but I don’t think he can run with me, I don’t think he’s as fast as me,” Jackson said Tuesday, via PhillyMag.com. “So it will be a challenge, man. He’s a great player, nothing to take away from him. I’m just focused on what we have to do here, which is win a football game.
Despite being sure he can outrun Revis, Jackson added that this is much less a him vs Revis issue and more of Eagles vs Buccaneers issue and as long as the Eagles win, Jackson will be happy.
“We’re not going to make it into a one-on-one battle, we’re not going to (make it) me versus Revis,” Jackson added. “It’s the Eagles versus Tampa Bay, and at the end of the game, as long as we’re winning, that’s all that matters to me.”
Jackson is right, it needs to be less about him being able to outrun Revis and more about the 2-3 Eagles being able to take care of the 0-4 Buccaneers.
With a Dallas loss and an Eagles win, Philadelphia could find itself atop the NFC East.
Maybe Jackson will be able to outrun Revis a few times and help the Eagles beat the Buccaneers on Sunday.
