In an interview Tuesday morning with Good Morning America, a fresh-out-of-jail Chad Johnson talked about how he is ready to turn his life around after his 30 day jail sentence was reduced down to seven days. He also said that he wants to give the NFL another try, and wants to “grace the football field one more time”.
Johnson, 35, was given a 30 day jail sentence while in court for a probation hearing after playfully slapping his attorney on the behind. He said in the interview that the sentence, handed down by Broward County Judge Kathleen McHugh, forced him to do something he has been trying to do for a long time now.
“I’ve learned my lesson, especially over those past seven days. I think everyone deserves a second chance. Many would say I might not deserve it. I would like to finish my career off the right way. I think that Judge McHugh was able to get me do something many people have tried to get me to do for a long time: slow down, just at life in general. She was able to get me to do that, maybe not in the best circumstances for those on the outside but I see being able to sit down and think about life and where I’m going from this point was probably on one of the best things that could happen to me right now.”
Johnson also revealed that the “good game” that he delivered to his attorney that got him a 30 day sentence was actually the third time he had done it in the court room that day.
Johnson is a six-time pro bowler and former Bengal, Patriot, and Dolphin.
Do you think Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson deserves another chance? Did the judge over-react by giving him a jail sentence for slapping his attorney’s behind?
