Marcus Lattimore suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in all of sports in 2012. While playing for theSouth Carolina Gamecocks against the Tennessee Volunteers, Lattimore tor every major ligament in his left knee.
Before the injury, Lattimore was considered one of the best runninh backs in the college game and had he decided to enter the draft (which he later did) he would have been competing with the likes of Montee Ball and Eddie Lacy as one of the best running backs in the draft.
Because of the injury however, Lattimore slid to the fourth round where he was taken by the San Fransisco 49ers.
Lattimore spent all of the 2013 season rehabilitating his knee and not taking any part in games. The rehabilitating has helped Lattimore learn about the importance of nutrition, and he feels he is stronger and healthier than he’s ever been as a result.
Lattimore says the recover has bee a blessing.
“Really, the whole experience has been a blessing,” Lattimore said, via ESPN.com. “It is making a good thing out of a bad thing.”
Lattimore says he will be there to help and support 49ers inside linebacker, NaVarro Bowman, as he recovers from his own knee injury suffered in the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks.
“NaVorro is a warrior; he is going to be just fine,” Lattimore said. “I’ve talked to people who have seen him, and they say he is doing great.”
