The NFL announced it will investigate whether or not the Dallas Cowboys concealed Tony Romo’s rib injury on their injury report leading up to their game with the Chicago Bears Thursday night.
Romo’s back injuries have been well-documented. But Romo also said that he’s been playing with a rib injury that has required medical attention and extra padding in games. The problem? Dallas never listed a rib injury on their report.
“We’re looking into it,” league spokesman Greg Aiello told USA TODAY Sports in an email.
The Cowboys have not previously disclosed a rib injury for Romo, though he has consistently been on the injury report because of his back. Romo has not practiced on most Wednesdays this season as part of his recovery from offseason back surgery that was not related to the October injury.
Despite the injuries, the Cowboys were able to defeat Chicago 41-28 to reclaim a wild-card spot in the NFC….for now anyway.
