This year, teams around the NFL will be turning to tablets to view post-play pictures and setup plays for their next drive. If you watched the Hall of Fame game on Sunday, you already know about the new tablets instead of pictures as the announcers talked about them every chance they had. While every team has tablets for the new season, only the New York Jets plan to use their tablet’s password to motivate the team.
According to the NY Post, the Jets password for their tablets will be 1-9-6-9 after the year of the team’s last and only Super Bowl victory.
“It’s just something to remember — 1969 is the last time this team was perfect,” defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson said. “That’s a long time ago.”
Head coach Rex Ryan says the Super Bowl password is intended to motivate the team and make them think like champions.
“If you don’t want to be a champion, you’re not going to be,” Ryan said. “It’s safe to say no one’s going to be a champion if they’re going to be like, ‘Eh, maybe I’d like to’ or whatever. That has to be why you play the game because you do want to be the best. Certainly I want to be the best and I know everybody in this organization feels the same way I do.”
Rex Ryan has never been one to keep quiet about his team’s possible success. At least the Jets are being creative with their tablet’s password and not just using all 1’s.
