Madison Bumgarner is a member of the 2014 National League All-Star team and he wants to get the most out of the All-Star experience this year.

He told Alex Pavlovic of Mercury News (San Francisco Bay Area newspaper) that he had put in a word with National League Homerun Derby team captain Troy Tulowitzki about gaining a spot on the team:

Bumgarner is no slouch at the plate. He has four career home runs including 2 in 37 at bats in 2014. One of the pitcher’s home runs this season was a grand slam on April 12.

Tulowitzki has yet to give Bumgarner an answer, but it will most assuredly be a no. As a team captain, he’s got to put the best hitters out there to win the Derby for the National League. I’m quite sure that Bumgarner was just kidding anyway.
