Pittsburgh Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin is the latest prominent name in the NFL to make an appearance at a MLB club’s Spring Training. Coach Tomlin was in Bradenton, FL to speak to the Pittsburgh Pirates today.

I don’t think that Tomlin will be suiting up like Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson did two weeks ago for the Texas Rangers did. I do think he will have some words of encouragement and some keys to success for the Pirates.

Coach Tomlin has some success on his résumé, with two Super Bowl appearances and one win in his relatively short head coaching tenure.

The ‘Buccos’ as fans call them are hoping to build on last season’s success and bring home some of the hardware like the Penguins and Steelers have brought to the city (fairly) recently. They had their first winning season and Playoff berth in twenty years in 2013. They’re getting there, albeit slowly.

Check out these pictures of Tomlin’s visit that the Pirates tweeted out today:

The Pirates take on the New York Yankees in Grapefruit League action today at 1:00 PM EDT.

Today marks the two weeks’ notice for most of the league’s Opening Day. Have you put in for time off yet to binge watch baseball? If not, don’t worry, Reading Between the Seams has got all of the bases covered when it comes to baseball news, so be sure to check back often!
