At a Texas Rangers news conference Monday afternoon, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez announced his retirement after 21 seasons. “Pudge” is a sure-shot Hall-of-Famer and is considered one of baseball’s top-two defensive catchers of all-time, along with Johnny Bench. Rodriguez won numerous Gold Gloves, Silver Sluggers, was named to many All-Star games, and named A.L. MVP in 1999. When playing with the Florida Marlins in 2003, “Pudge” was a significant part of a World Series Championship. Most notably, Rodriguez played for the Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, and the Detroit Tigers. “Pudge” finished his career with a .296 ave. with 311 HR.
