Going into this week, a report surfaced that Kevin Kolb was no longer the favorite in landing the Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback job. He would however start in Friday’s preseason game at home against the Raiders where he looked as lost as a puppy in the big city.
Kolb’s first drive looked halfway decent – with a lot of help from Cardinals RB Ryan Williams – as Kolb tossed two little dump-offs to the side when he was in trouble.
Kolb was pulled from the game, ending the night going 3/6 for 22 yards. A showing in which was not impressive.
He was sacked several times during the night, and shortly after getting dropped for a safety, Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly ran to the bench screaming “That boy’s scared!”
I too, would be scared if I didn’t have an offensive line to protect me – losing another Tackle, Levi Brown to a potential season-ending pectoral tear.
Kolb has been less than impressive during his tenure as a Cardinal, and many expect John Skelton to get the nod once the season starts. I also heard that Colt McCoy or Tarvaris Jackson will be available, it might be a good idea for the Cards to reach out if so.
