Sabres, Lightning rack up 110 penalty minutes in brawl-filled game 90

The Tampa Bay Lightning faced off against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.  The Lightning cruised to a 5-0 win but what made the game interesting was not the score, it was the 110 penalty minutes dished out to players of both sides in what was a brawl-fulled game.

The Buffalo Sabres gave a break down of the penalties dished out for the third period alone.

Sweet mother of Mary!  That’s a heckuva lot of penalty minutes.  And remember, this is just the third period.  Imagine what the first and second periods would look like?

The game was notable for several line brawls.  The NHL will likely cone down hard on he players involved in these brawls.  You could say that with all the fights you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the WWE’s Royal Rumble event.
