No progress between Chris Johnson and the Titans.

Tennesse Titans running back (for now) Chris Johnson is due $8 million in 2014. Many believe the Titans will part ways with him before paying him that much money, because his level of play has taken a decline over the last couple seasons.

There’s no reason to believe Johnson can’t bounce back and return to the upper echelon of running backs, but it doesn’t sound like the Titans are willing to find out:

Via Pro Football Talk:

The one way that Johnson might return to the team for the 2014 season would be with a pay cut, but Johnson has shown no willingness in the past to take less than what the Titans agreed to pay him. Nothing has changed on that front.

Johnson posted about the situation on Twitter on Wednesday and said that both sides are singing the same old songs.

“My agent and Titans front office had a talk yesterday and everything is still at a stand still so it’s a waiting game while I continue to grind,” Johnson wrote.

An extra $8 million would come in handy for the Titans with free agency looming, and Johnson most likely will not entertain the thought of a pay cut. Put two and two together, and it’s a fair assumption Johnson will be running the ball somewhere else this season.
