Bills’ Kiko Alonso Named PFWA Defensive Rookie of the Year

Kiko Alonso had a great rookie season, so of course many believe postseason accolades will be coming his way. And as of Tuesday, they have, according to The Pro Football Writers of America have named Kiko Alonso their Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The second-round pick out of Oregon ranked third among all NFL players with 159 total tackles. He also accumulated 4 interceptions, 3 of which came in 3 consecutive games, which according to the the article is the the first three-game interception streak by an NFL rookie linebacker since 1980, and the first by a Bills rookie linebacker in team history. Alonso also racked up 22 (13 solo) tackles in a single game (vs Bengals), two sacks, a forced fumble and a pair of fumble recoveries.

Kiko is expected to win the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year vote as well. This year was great for the rookie linebacker out of Oregon, dare I even say “Legendary“?
