According to the Buffalo Bills official Twitter, the team has finally signed star free safety Jairus Byrd to his one year franchise tender.

The Bills placed the franchise tag on Byrd earlier in the year. Throughout the offseason, Byrd and the team were in talks of a contract extension. Reports have it that Byrd wanted #1 money, where the Bills felt what they have offered was an acceptable amount.

Last year Byrd had 5 interceptions and 53 solo tackles with 23 assists. He is a shut down player and has potential to be one of the leagues top safeties.

Byrd has missed all of the Bills’ training camp, mini camps and OTAs. Tomorrow is Buffalo’s last practice at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, NY. Byrd will report to the team at 1 Bills drive in Buffalo on Thursday.
