Buffalo Bills QB Kolb Leaves Practice After Slipping on Rubber Mat
Penfield, NY- Buffalo Bills QB Kevin Kolb slipped on a wet mat during practice today, at St. John Fisher College according to NFL.com.
The veteran quarterback slipped on a rubber mat walking between practice fields at the beginning of practice, Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reported. Kolb didn’t fall, but trainers ran to him to look at his left knee. Kolb was noticeably upset as he headed back to the locker room.
The team’s official Twitter account had this to say on the QB’s departure:
Marrone: QB Kevin Kolb slipped transferring from one field to another; bumped his knee. Day-to-day. #BillsCamp

According to Buffalo Bills’ Head Coach, Doug Marrone, Kolb slipped walking from one practice field to another. He bumped his left knee and will be day to day.
Because of Kolb’s, injury, 1st-round pick, EJ Manuel, took all the reps with the 1st team today. Kolb is in no position to miss any practice time, as he and Manuel are in a heated battle for the Bills’ starting job.
To make things worse, the team had high expectations of Kolb going into training camp. With his experience on the Cardinals and the Eagles, the team expected him to lead the charge in training camp. However, with his lack of accuracy and shoddy pocket presence, Manuel has every opportunity to close the lead and overtake the veteran. Especially when you consider Bills’ new General Manager, Doug Whaley, said Tuesday that “(Manuel) has that ‘it’ factor. When he walks into a room, there’s a presence and people take notice. He’s going to be the face of our franchise, and it’s not too big for him.”
We here at New York Sports Kings will keep an eye and ear out on any developing stories on Kolb’s injury and anything around the New York area. Follow us on twitter, @NY_Sportskings, or me personally, @schantzman87. I will be tweeting live from the Bills’ training camp on monday night.
