Car of Ed Reed Broken in to; $50,000 Stolen
If Jets safety Ed Reed was thinking about retiring, he might want to re-think that logic now.
While in Houston, Reed’s car was reportedly broken in to and $50,000 were stolen from the passenger side of the vehicle according to the Baltimore Sun. It was reported that Reed had just left one bank and made a stop at a Bank of America when the robbery took place. It is believed that Reed was followed.
As of right now, Houston Police have not found the burglar. Reed, who is 35 years old and for sure towards the end of his career, is an unrestricted free agent. He was signed by the Jets after being cut by the Houston Texans due to poor performance and some choice words for defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
The Jets picked him up in hopes that a reunion with his former coach Rex Ryan would see some sort of resurgence from Reed. Reed did manage to get three interceptions and four passes defended in just seven games. However, Reed has appeared to lose a step and was exploited for big plays last season.
It seems unlikely that the Jets would bring Reed back next season and will likely look to the draft to fill his spot.
