Giants CB Corey Webster OUT for Sunday at Panthers

Giants CB Corey Webster will not play in Sunday’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers. He missed a second straight day of practice yesterday and the cause of the injury is currently unknown.

According to ESPN New York, it’s unclear how the injury occurred as he practiced Wednesday with no noticeable problems.

“Evidently he has an issue with his hip flexor, in that area somewhere,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said after Friday’s practice. “He couldn’t practice yesterday and he couldn’t go today.”

Webster will  be replaced by Aaron Ross. Ross didn’t play a single snap against Denver last week but looks like he better be ready to go.

With Webster not playing, Prince Amukamara will likely cover Panthers #1 wide receiver Steve Smith for the whole game. Terrell Thomas has been the slot cornerback in the first two games, but it’s unclear whether or not he’ll stay there this week.
