Homeless man brings knife to ABC studio; Intended to kill Michael Strahan
Former New York Giants defensive lineman Michael Strahan has made a successful post-football career for himself. Strahan now co-hosts “Live with Kelly and Michael” on ABC, a spot formerly filled by legendary on-air talent Regis Philbin. Strahan, while on the set of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” which he also hosts part-time, was allegedly the target of a homeless man who brought a knife to the ABC studio with the intention to kill Strahan.
Via the New York Daily News:
An unhinged homeless man armed with a knife demanded to be let into ABC’s “Good Morning America” in Times Square Tuesday morning and said later he wanted to kill the Hall of Famer-turned-TV darling, sources told the Daily News.
He was rebuffed and quickly arrested by cops, officials said.
Johnson was taken to the Midtown South stationhouse where he chillingly told investigators: “I was there to kill Michael Strahan,” law enforcement sources said.
The homeless man, Andre Johnson, was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. Hopefully Johnson, who seems unstable, gets the help he needs, and thankfully nobody was harmed in this unfortunate incident.
