Jay Z is a mogul. Whether it be music, fashion and now apparently sports. Jay Z formed Roc Nation Sports, a sports management division of Jay Z’s Roc Nation talent agency, in 2013. Roc Nation Sports may have a small amount of clients, but they have big names and Jets QB Geno Smith is one of them.

Jay z congratulated Geno Smith on his home win over the Buffalo Bills at a joint birthday party for NBA baller, and fellow Roc Nation Sports client, Kevin Durant and rapper Wale at Avenue nightclub.

Pagesix.com reports, “Jay gave him (Geno Smith) a big slap on the back as soon as he arrived at Avenue,” a reported “spy” told the website.

Smith mingled with celebrities that included rappers Drake, Ne-Yo, Fabolous, WNBA star Skylar Diggins, Durant’s teammate Russell Westbrook, and R&B singer Bridget Kelly.

Smith might want to watch what gets spread in the news and tabloids about his social life. Media tends to make a big deal about who sports stars tend to spend time with. Especially when you’re apart of a struggling team.

Take Cowboys QB Tony Romo for example. He went on vacation with his ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson right before the playoffs in 2008. Cowboys lost to the New York Giants 21-17. The media went nuts and blamed his getaway with Jessica for the loss.

Smith should be careful because the win over Buffalo was not pretty. Neither team played well. Jets overcame 20 penalties and two Smith interceptions to still best the Bills in a 27-20 victory. He still has a lot to learn. But every player deserves to let off a little steam every once in a while. At least he didn’t shoot himself in the leg.
