Despite leading 2-1 in the series over the Raptors, both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce think that the Brooklyn Nets fans could play more of a factor in their home games.

After defeating the Raptors 102-98 in game three on Friday night, Garnett and Pierce were unimpressed by the energy that the Brooklyn fans brought.  Remember, both are used to playing in front of raucous Boston crowds during their careers with the Celtics and both were in their first home playoff game as members of the Nets.

Here is what was said according to SI.com:

“They could do better,” Garnett said on Saturday, according to Mike Mazzeo of ESPNNewYork.com. “I was expecting Brooklyn to be real hostile, New York-style. I know what it’s like to come here as the opposition, so our crowd could do better, but they were there when we needed them, and we fed off of them.”

Added Paul Pierce, who along with KG won a title in Boston in 2008: “Well, we know gradually they got into it. Hopefully the next game, it will get a lot better from the start. We want to come out from the jump, from the beginning, and have them in the game. It shouldn’t take a big play from us. We want them behind us. It was a great crowd.”

Garnett would go on to add that he thought the crowd would be more hostile after game one when Raptors ganeral manager Masai Ujiri yelled “F*** Brooklyn” to the Toronto crowd in an effort to get them more amped up.  The Nets would go on to win that game 94-87.

Nets forward Joe Johnson went on to say he thought the crowd “was pretty good” and that the team needs to make more plays to get them excited.
