Knicks Trying To Scare J.R. Smith With Trade Rumors
New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith is finding himself in the news a lot lately.
Whether he’s threatening people on Twitter or untying his opponents shoes (Smith has been fined $50 thousand for repeated acts of “unsportsmanlike conduct” for his antics), Smith is garnering attention for all the wrong reasons. Maybe this is why the latest rumors were leaked on Wednesday.
Earlier in the afternoon, it was reported that the Knicks were going to explore trade options for the former Sixth Man of the Year. Now, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that there is no truth to these rumors, but the team is trying to scare Smith into straightening out his act.
Knicks trying to scare J.R. Smith straight with public, but empty trade talk. Of course, they understand there’s no market for him.

Well Adrian, if that was their plan, you pretty much ruined it.
After signing a multi-year contract in the off season, Smith has been a disappointment and a borderline distraction this season. He is averaging just 11.3 points per game this season and is shooting an abysmal .348 percent from the field.
With the Knicks underachieving so far this season, Smith’s struggles are even more under the microscope. If the Knicks want to get back into the playoff race, they will need to get Smith going.
Or, find a team crazy enough to make a trade for him.
