The New York Mets habe officially announced the release of outfielder Chris Young on Friday.

Young was signed by the Mets last offseason as a free agent from the Oakland Athletics.  The 30-year old Young also played the Arizona Diamondabcks where he had the most successful years of his career.

Young has had a serious of injury issues, most recently in April when he went to the disabled list.

Young had a .205 batting average with eight home runs and 28 RBI for the Mets.  He was at-bat 254 times during his Mets career.  This obviously wasn’t the production the Mets wanted and they chose to release him in order to make room for fellow outfielder Matt den Dekker.
