Rex Ryan calls on familiar face for help against Falcons defense
In week one, the Atlanta Falcons were shut down by a tough Saints defense and picked up their first loss. On Monday night, the Falcons take on the New York Jets and a face that might look familiar, but looks can be deceiving.
Jets head coach Rex Ryan is tasked with trying to stop Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and possibly Steven Jackson depending on how his health is holding up on Monday Night Football this week. In an interview yesterday, he said that he went to his brother Rob, currently the Saints defensive coordinator, for help on how to stop the Falcons offense.
“Of course, you talk to him,” Rex said about calling his brother. “There’s no doubt about that. I don’t want to get in trouble for insider trading, but absolutely you’ll talk to him.”
I highly doubt that there’s anything illegal or immoral about trying to gain the upper hand in this way. Ryan called it “insider trading”, but I don’t see it that way. Honestly, if it means that it gives the Jets a better shot at beating Atlanta Monday night and staying relevant, it would be strange for Rex Ryan NOT to call on his brother for advice. That being said, this could be a pro for both teams, as the Jets want to win on Monday night, obviously, but a Jets win is also beneficial to the Saints.
What do you think?
Is it right or wrong for the Ryan brothers to work together like this?
Is it “insider trading” like Rex implied?
What will it take for the Jets to beat the Falcons on Monday night?
